What are women? The exhibition “Frauen sind …!” poses this question with great lightness and, at the same time, with conviction. It features exclusively works by female artists depicting women: female figures, female bodies, images of women, inner states and external roles. This gives rise to a vibrant dialogue about how women are perceived — and how female artists see, interpret, invent and assert women.
On display are works by five female artists, including pieces by Kerstin Grimm. Together, these perspectives unfold a polyphonic panorama of female representation. The exhibition does not seek a definitive definition; rather, it brings together possibilities, opens up new perspectives and reveals just how diverse images of women can be when women themselves create them.
