Angelika Platen is a German photographer known for her artist portraits. In the first phase of her work Joseph Beuys, Hanne Darboven, Sigmar Polke, Gerhard Richter, Bridget Riley, Palermo and Panamarenko and others approach the viewer from the 1960s and 70s, while Christian Boltanski, Monika Bonvicini, Sophie Calle, Sylvie Fleury, Jeppe Hein, Leiko Ikemura, Michael Majerus, Jonathan Meese and many more accompany the viewer until the first decade of the 21st century in her so-called second work phase. While the early photos were all analogue and black and white, it was not until the 2000s that she switched to digital and colour. From 2012, in the third phase of work, she photographs analogue and digital, in order to concentrate on the digital way of working from 2018 onwards. Thus, the year 2018 is dedicated exclusively to female artists. 2022 sees the beginning of intense archival work to reissue both the conceptual and documentary photography of the 60s/70s.
Her works are included in important collections in Germany, Switzerland and Austria.
