In this exhibition, language becomes a material object of thought through its connection with artistic practice. It itself becomes an aesthetic subject of diverse representations. Links can be drawn to everyday language, to comics and graffiti, to advertising, and to visual and concrete poetry. Colours are replaced by words. This gives rise to a spatial rhetoric that engages the audience.
‘BEING LINGUITIQUE – on the art of writing’ seeks to identify thematic areas in which the artists not only reference the legacy of the avant-garde, but also reinterpret it. The exhibition responds to the Hannah Höch Room at the Museum Reinickendorf and connects internal and external spaces.
The exhibition is an initiative by Manfred Peckl and René Wirths, curated by Harald F. Theiss
